I don't consider these good design. It's raucous, obtrusive, distracting. And they do all look oddly similar. Not impressed.

I like these designs for their creativity and have been to at least half of them.

This hyperdesign is definitely an emerging and uprising style but seriously there is so much going on in each of them.

Some are tactful and have a sense of flow to them but some of them are over done.

How does one even decide that "Hey I should keep adding more, or wait I'd added enough eye candy, time to develop content."?

I appreciate your inclusion of Tutorial9 in the mix here.

I understand the argument for many of the sites having similar structure, following similar conventions, and even sharing similar styles&emdash;but does that really surprise anyone?

Truly, if you're one to break conventions online you won't keep a user around long enough to really use the site. Structures of websites aren't a whole lot different than a magazine or newspaper. You're not a better publisher if you provide your content in a container no one is used too. It really comes down to the material itself and how easy it is for the users to parse.

And to settle similar styles, most of these are design websites. Why shouldn't they appeal to the creative audience with illustrative elements?

Hey there, thanks for the feature, Hyperdesign is an interesting concept, made me smile :)

A blog usually has a header, post column, sidebar column and footer, there are only a couple of ways to decorate them if you want to keep a classic blog structure.

The majority of the sites featured here are blogs or based on blog engines. I don't think it's wrong to stick to the classic structure of a blog sometimes, people tend to get confused if you move your footer to the top of the page and put your sidebar in the footer :)

Anyways, kudos to everybody!
